About us

BFSM Schadenermittlung GmbH has its roots in the SERVATIO private investigator agency. It was founded in 1987 by Franz Mader, who at the time already had 17 years’ experience in the criminal investigation department of the Austrian police force.

We first began working with Austrian insurance companies back in the early 1990s, and this was followed a short while later by international contracts. By focusing on the specific requirements of the insurance industry, not only did our expertise grow, but so did demand. This ultimately led to SERVATIO being renamed the ‘Büro für Schadenermittlung’ (Claims Investigation Office).

Our assignments increasingly took us beyond national borders – initially to Central and South-Eastern Europe, and later far beyond, ultimately resulting in the creation of an international network.

2010 saw an important milestone reached: The change of leadership led to the ‘Claims Investigation Office’ becoming the limited liability company BFSM Schadenermittlung GmbH. Since then, both the management and professional leadership have been in the hands of Bernhard Mader, the founder’s son.

Today, the team at BFSM Schadenermittlung GmbH offers its services across the board in companies of any industry. In addition to our ongoing close collaboration with the insurance industry, we help companies across a wide range of sectors to clarify matters of commercial significance, preventing financial losses and presenting evidence that stands up in court.
